What began as four friends singing together in their backyards grew into one of the Pacific Northwest's most recognized contemporary a cappella quartets. Based in Renton, Washington, The Uptown 4 earned a reputation for energetic performances, rich vocal harmony, and a genuine love of making music together. Audiences described the group as "phenomenal," praising its engaging stage presence and powerful vocal blend.
In the tradition of classic vocal quartets, The Uptown 4 featured Christopher "Orion" Taylor (Tenor I), Jeff McGlinn (Tenor II), Jeffery Weister (Baritone), and Sky Lewis (Bass). Each member brought a diverse performing background that included choral music, classical training, musical theater, and dance, creating a distinctive sound that blended technical musicianship with personality and fun.
The group's repertoire spanned generations, from doo-wop classics and timeless standards to contemporary pop hits, all reimagined through original vocal arrangements. In addition to their covers, The Uptown 4 wrote and performed original music, including "Hazel Eyes," an arrangement praised as one of the group's standout original works.
Over the years, The Uptown 4 performed at venues and events throughout the western United States, including Seattle's Pike Place Market, the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, the University of Washington, Bite of Seattle, Taste of Tacoma, and A Taste of Edmonds. The quartet also received priority audition invitations for NBC's The Sing-Off and America's Got Talent, and earned Third Place at the 2011 Northwest Regional Harmony Sweepstakes.
While The Uptown 4 is no longer actively performing, this site remains as a celebration of the music, friendships, and memories that defined the group.
